This October, BCWC hosted two events for the Halloween season. A family disco on 29th October was hugely popular and a sell out success.
Following the success of our previous Halloween Scarefest, this year our fantastic team of volunteers worked tirelessly throughout October to produce an outdoor maze and guests were immersed into a live action walkthrough horror tour.
Thank you to our team of volunteers and members of our boxing classes who rose to the challenge and took on various scary and spooky roles to terrify the visitors to the Scarefest.

One of our most popular community events to date was the Gornal Beach Day held on Saturday 27th August 2022. Thanks to a 20-tone donation of play sand by Tile Choice Managing Director, Kevin Beasley, we were able to bring the beach to Gornal!
The support from the local community was overwhelming as crowds joined us for a day at the beach! Donkey rides, children’s games, bouncy castles and refreshments made this a unique day to remember for the local community and one of our proudest achievements for the team at BCWC!
On Thursday 4th August 2022 all roads around Sedgley, Gornal and surrounding areas were closed as we welcomed the Commonwealth Games Time Trial for the men and women’s cycling. We were delighted to take a group of young BCWC members to cheer on the cyclists.
On Sunday 17th July 2022 BCWC welcomed local football teams to compete in the BCWC U9’s Football Cup with bouncy Castles, an inflatable assault course and gladiator dual, hot and cold refreshments available on the day. All money raised at the event will be spent on improving and maintaining the football pitch at BCWC. Not only for the benefit of the BCWC football teams but also the local community who enjoy a kick around here at Quarry Park.
A huge thank you to Kevin Beasley, Managing Director at Tile Choice, who very kindly donated Wolves matchday tickets, hospitality in a VIP box at Molineux Stadium and a tour of the stadium for the winner of the top bins highest scorer.
In collaboration with the Upper Gornal Fund Raising Committee we were delighted to host the annual Upper Gornal Fun day at BCWC on Saturday 25th June 2022.
Stall holders, the animal man, refreshments, bouncy castles, entertainment from our very own Dancing Queens, tug of war made this a memorable day in the BCWC calendar.
We even had a visit from the Mayor, Councillor Sue Greenaway who took time out to visit our Memorial Garden and the wonderful achievements from our volunteer gardeners.
In celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, we held a Picnic in the Park on Thursday 2nd June 2022. Our team of volunteers and staff decorated the Centre in red, white and blue in celebration and transformed BCWC.
Food, entertainment and music from the 50’s made this a very memorable vent as the local community came together to celebrate 70’s years of the Queen’s monarchy.
On Monday 2nd May 2022 our fundraising efforts began to raise much needed funds to repair the roof at BCWC.
Our Family Fun Day included an adult charity football match which saw some local legends dust off their boots and get back on the pitch as BCWC took on Gornal Old Boys FC. Music, refreshments, a tombola and many other stalls as well as a fantastic performance from our very own Dancing Queens all helped to contribute to the success of the day.
A highlight for our Under 9’s football team was an invitation to play at the Wolves training ground at Compton Park in Wolverhampton on Wednesday 4th May 2022. What a remarkable opportunity for these young boys who played some outstanding football against some very tough opposition. A huge well done for all involved!
Since its inception in 2019 BCWC has endeavoured to make a difference to the lives of children and every Christmas we really do bring out all the stops! The BCWC sleigh has become legendary throughout the local area as our team of staff and volunteers take to the streets with Santa, Mrs Clause and of course their elf helpers to hand out selection boxes and gifts to the children of Gornal and the surrounding areas.
Thanks to the kindness and generosity of our supporters and local businesses who donate to our Christmas appeal we hope to continue our sleigh outings for many years to come. If any local business can support Santa and his Sleigh in December 2022 then please do get in touch. Thank you.
