Thanks to the hard work of our wonderful team of volunteers and funding from The National Lottery, this year we were finally able to commence work on the rundown and unused space at the rear of BCWC.
The work involved was no mean task as the area was unused and had been overgrown for several years.
Friends, neighbours and supporters donated plants and garden ornaments with local businesses donating, bark, top soil, seating and tables and fence panels. The inclusion of an outdoor cooking facility has created a welcoming space for the local community to enjoy.
Goals for 2023 include creating a cafe for the local community to use and enjoy the garden and its surroundings as well as growing fruit to create jams, a potting shed and a small wildlife garden to benefit the youngsters that visit the centre.
A small area of the garden will be dedicated for the use of an outdoor physical training area and we hope to be able to develop another area with astro turf and lighting to facilitate youngsters in football training in a safe and secure environment.
